MAINTENANCE WORKER II
Waste Water Treatment Plant knowledge and experience preferred for this position.
Basic Function:
Perform semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair and construction of district buildings and equipment; perform semi-skilled to skilled work in one or more of the building maintenance trades; assist journey level trades personnel as needed; work independently in one of the less complex building trades.

Shares Responsibility With: Maintenance Supervisor or Other Maintenance Personnel
Contract Terms: 12 Month Annual Contract
Qualifications:
- Certification: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience: Two years building and mechanical maintenance or operations experience
Duties:
- Performs unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance, repair and construction of district buildings and equipment in one or more of the building maintenance trades including locksmithing, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
- Provides journey-level trades workers and maintenance personnel with a variety of maintenance, repair and construction; performs independently on less difficult projects and assignments as assigned.
- Installs, adjusts, repairs and replaces locks and door hardware; inspects locks for proper operation and implements a preventive maintenance program for locking mechanisms, panic bars, door closures, and other hardware; re-keys and re-pins locks as needed and maintains related charts and records.
- Constructs, installs and maintains roofs, furniture, fences, bookshelves, cabinets, shelving, chalkboards and bulletin boards.
- Installs, repairs and maintains gas and water lines, heating and cooling equipment, electrical fixtures and outlets; replaces broken toilet seats, flushes valve diaphragms, seals and gaskets; cleans plugged drains, stops leaks, adjusts water pressure and cleans work area upon completion of work.
- Installs, repairs and replaces carpet, floor and ceiling tiles, repairs blinds and shades; installs dispensers and repairs or installs bathroom stalls.
- Makes minor electrical and mechanical repairs on such equipment as vacuum cleaners, buffers, electrical locks, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators and other small appliances.
- Prepares surfaces for painting, mixes paints, finishes and other coatings and applies to equipment, buildings, furniture and district facility structures.
- Performs construction of forms and metal work, pours concrete and performs finish work; performs masonry, repair and construction with brick and block.
- Strips, waxes and buffs floors; washes windows; cleans carpeted areas; sweeps and washes sidewalks and classrooms; dusts rooms and furniture and performs a variety of related custodial duties.
- Maintains records of time, costs and materials needed in the maintenance and repair of district equipment and facilities; prepares work orders for more difficult and complex repairs or larger work projects.
- Operates a wide variety of tools and equipment including motor vehicles, forklift, key-cutting machine, electric cart, steam cleaner, grinder, stripper, waxer, buffer, carpet cleaner, power hand tools, saws and hand tools used in the building maintenance trades.
- Performs other duties such as tree removal, assembling and moving furniture and setting up chairs for events on and off campus.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Tools, equipment, methods and materials used in semi-skilled to skilled maintenance in at least one of the building maintenance and construction trades.
- Operation and use of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Requirements of maintaining buildings and facilities in good repair.
- Requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
- Cleaning equipment, tools, materials and supplies used in custodial work.
- Basic record-keeping techniques.
- Health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
- Proper lifting techniques.
Ability to:
- Perform semi-skilled to skilled work in the construction, renovation, maintenance and repair of building, facilities and furniture.
- Operate basic maintenance tools and equipment.
- Assist skilled personnel in the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.
- Use common cleaning equipment and supplies safely and efficiently.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events.
- Observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair.
- Maintain routine records related to work performed.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Licenses & Other Requirements:
- Shall maintain a valid Kentucky drivers license.
- Shall be on call seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day and carry an operating beeper (work cell phone), when at work and at home, in order to respond in the event of an emergency, if at all possible.
- Shall not accept outside employment or activities which will prevent the fulfillment of regularly assigned duties and obligations or the working of overtime, as required.
- Shall not perform any duties related to an outside job during working hours, including but not limited to, the use and/or possession of not board owned telephones, radios or beepers during working hours.
This position is 8 hours per day and 261 days per year.
Employees new to the district can bring in up to 10 years full-time verified experience in a similar position.
